Day 79

This week, the back of the house is being demo'd...the 2nd floor bathroom is no longer functional (not that it really was to begin with)...

Oh yeah, did you notice the lack of roof in the upper left hand corner?  It's not there anymore!!

Meanwhile, drywall has been spackled and sanded...

Tours will start 5:30-6 before the Millers' bash on Saturday...all are welcome!

Day 66

Today was a BIG day....the tub is in place!!!!  It looks awesome...it will be operational soon and I can't wait to take my first bath.

Our dual flush toilet is on site and waiting for final installation.

For the first time since we have lived in this house--we have a doorknob!  The new front door and window above the door were installed today.

The door will be painted black to match the windows and a view slot will be cut into it.  Also--the mail box is temporary until Scott can find one he likes.

Here's a view of the front door from the inside...

Drywall is here and ready to be hung tomorrow.  Don't mind Scott, he's just running the cables for my bathroom TV.

More updates tomorrow!!

Day 65

Today insulation was added on the 1st and 2nd floor in preparation for drywall...

A wing wall was added at the bar in the kitchen that we will eventually put shelves into.

In bathroom news---
Grout was added in the areas around the toilet and the TUB so those fixtures can be set tomorrow.

Also, the toilet paper holder was installed.

More to follow soon!!

Day 65 - Where We Started

I thought a few shots of where we started with might add a bit of perspective before drywall starts this week.

The dirty one is ours...

We paid extra for the drop ceiling throughout...

Black carpet is Hot...

We really wanted to salvage this room but the architect just couldn't find a way to make it work with the program...

And then with a little help from our friends...

who very quickly got smart and moved to different cities or made babies...

Oh yeah that's the whole ceiling behind them, the Irish guy is the foreman.

Exposing the brick...

This is what the 3rd floor looked like in a dumpster...

And 5 years later we finished the bedroom...

Day 63

Craig was here today and continued work on the tile...

The white circle is for the toilet and the square is the bathroom fan.

The tile looks amazing, especially when the sunlight hits it.  Craig told me it is very easy to clean!

Meanwhile, Lucy is enjoying the last days of fall in Massachusetts....

More to come soon!!

Day 62

More tiling in the 3rd floor bathroom...it's all starting to come together!

There is still a lot of tile left to go though...

Here is one of the windows at night--we are really happy with the way they look.  The frosted glass will keep all of the prying eyes out!

Side note--this image was on the door packaging..Scott wants to keep it and do something with it, I think it should go in the garbage....please post your thoughts in the comments section!

Day 58

Sorry the posts have been a little sparse...work has been continuing, although not on the weekend to the delight of our neighbors!

The new windows have been installed on the first & second floors...they look really great!

Tile has begun in the 3rd floor bathroom...

and we have selected the grout color for the bathrooms.

Hopefully the 3rd floor bathroom will be done in a couple of weeks...then the back of the house gets torn off and we will never have to see this again...
