Day 129 / Day 90

Full week!

Main body of the Second floor hardwoods are complete!  Paint is on the way!

First Floor hardwoods are done in the Living Room and the Kitchen should follow on Monday.

We headed up to NYC today to see how our butt's felt about the couches we saw online. The sitting area couch seemed to pass the test.

But the living room version was a touch f-rumpy in person.

Bar stools area a go!

We meet a lovely couple (Miss Mosby not shown) that pointed us towards this joint and we think we found a winner!  http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product/detail.do?productGroup=3177&catalog=filter&menuCatalog=room&menuSubcategory=201195
Jay also joined in on the couch hunt + pub fare to follow.

And the little one...(W.A.L) We've got a Head, Arms, Legs all that stuff.  A way better show than last time around.

A ton of movement.  The Tech was having a hard time getting the measurements (3" - 1/2 of its head) with all the bouncing.

And one more, because we have it.  More floors, cabinets, intestines and paint this week.

Day 124

Thank you all for your best wishes.  Maybe a little more on that around Thursday-ish.  For now the big news is flooring.

We've got a grouted tile floor on the second floor.

And the beginning of hardwood in the second floor sitting room and guest bed room.

Extra guys tomorrow!  More hardwood, some sanding in the 3rd floor bathroom (prep for paint) and kitchen cabinet assembly!

Day 122 / Day 83

We are now working on 2 projects.

We're adding a little heat to the back room to dry out any remaining moisture on the roof deck so we can hopefully get the roof on this week.  Not sure if the weather will work with us though.

The guys put the nosing in at the top and bottom of the stairs in preparation for the second floor hardwoods going in this week.

The Ice Cube bathroom wall tile was also grouted on Saturday.  The floor grout should go in this week with fixtures coming soon.

Oh yeah the other project...
We don't have too many photos at this point but here are some basic stats.

At the moment it is very small (2.5" / .5oz)

My Contractor (Megan) tells me it is exhausting work.

Phase one should be complete on or around August 1ST - After that the goal is to screw him / her up (we aren't going to find out) as little as possible.

We figure a good way to start would be a name like Wicked Awesome Larkin!  (Name not yet unanimously agreed upon).

A touch terrified and very excited.  We'll keep you posted & yes, Club Larkin is still on.

Day 119

A few things going on today...

In an effort to dry out the roof decking a heater was fired up in the 2nd floor back room.  Wet second floor =

an almost dry roof.  It should lead to the fiberglass roof going down soon.

The A/C units also made their way to the main roof.

"Skybridge" shot into the bedroom.

We're making progress on the "ice cube"!  98% of the tile is up.  Grout next week?  Maybe a toilet + sink?

Final Stair treads are being prepped in the front guest room.  American Walnut...

And a Beam was added to pick up the load (weight) of the future stair at the end of the sky-bridge cantilever.  Should be a couple of big days.  Sunday Nights Blog should have some BIG News!

Day 117

We got a couple of days work in between snows.

The new windows went in on the new second floor rear room.

The extra piece of wall was chopped out to allow for the future stair.

And the roof decking and remain exterior sheathing went on.  No snow in the second floor!

Day 113

Snowed Day, No progress.

To bad it wasn't nearly as fun as this snow day! (2/10)

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Day 112

Parapet walls (plus) are up on the roof (deck) off of our bedroom.

We did get a little extra where the future stair will eventually go.

No worries, should be an easy fix.

Just a quick plan shot.

We are going to with Iron Gray panels on the exterior, they will have a smooth finish (not wood grain below). The other two items shown are the window finish (black) and the garage door finish (aluminum).  We may end up adding a couple bright accent panels a bit later in the game.

If the snow is kind we may even have the roof surface down by the end of tomorrow.

Day 110

We are up and running again!

Second floor walls are up with sheathing on.

We've got a little cantilever to pick up a future stair to a roof deck.

The roof joists are in place and waiting for the wing walls along the north south edges.

Second floor interior.

Window openings at about chest height.

And a new slop sink installed a few weeks back.  Wow you say?  How exciting?

Very exciting I say.  We  had a bit of a sloooow sewer line that resulted in much of (sh)it filling the sink and 2 minute showers.  All is now well and both #'s are now approved for flushing.  A good day, a very good day!
