Day 47

Today was a nice day, a little relaxing at Hershey Spa (here is the koi pond)....

a few beverages at Stoudt's Brewery....

and we came home to the wet bed 3/4 complete!

The thermostat is hooked up--just need the gas for the heat!  Gas company comes on Monday, the rest of the windows arrive on Tuesday.

Day 46

We arrived home yesterday to our new stairs--I couldn't ask for a better birthday present!  The treads are temporary, and will be replaced with American walnut (to match the hardwood floors) when construction is complete.

Work is continuing on the 3rd floor bathroom, they added the shower pan today and are going to be  working on the wet bed soon.

Special thanks to Dick Johnson for an awesome cast iron drafting table base. It's fully functional and we're debating the possibilities of how to incorporate it into our decor.  Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed in the comments section!

A full crew will be in tomorrow at 7AM.  We are off to my heaven on earth (Hershey Spa) for a day of rest & relaxation!

Day 44

We are spending a couple nights away from the house so our new stairs can go in.

Pretty cool place, it used to be a YMCA.
The bar is where the reception desk should be.  Good for confused people watching.
Thinking maybe we stay for the duration...

Hopefully we will find something like this tomorrow night.

No more back door (a new window will go here)...

After

No more back yard (open cell pavers and bamboo will go here)...

Lots of jackhammering yesterday---if Lucy were here, she would be doing this....

Day 37 update on Day 38

Good morning!  Yesterday was a day of deliveries and a little gas.
IKEA stopped by with our cabinets, dishwasher, and stove hood.
Cabinets are high gloss red and the counters are going to be polished concrete.
Dishwasher + Hood...
Our toilet accessories also arrived, the mirrors are under the bed for now.
The gas lines were connect to the stove location...
and the heating units (the yellow stuff)...
A little electric work and we can fire these babies up.

Phase 1 rough-in inspection today...
Could mean drywall and finishes are coming into sight.

This should speak for it's self.

Day 34

After being out of town for the weekend, we came home to more progress...the heating & cooling units have been have been set up in the basement.  A few things still need to get connected but it seems like heat is on the way!

Demo is continuing in the kitchen...no bodies of Lou's workers have been uncovered yet.

The brick cut-outs in the sitting room are framed out.

On the plate for this week is more plumbing, inspections, starting to close up the 3rd floor bathroom and maybe some stairs!

Day 30

Who's that good looking guy you ask?
He's Mr. Lennox and he brings the heat.
Heating units are on site and waiting to be set this weekend.
They might even be fired up the following weekend...
In other news a wall was cut back to expose some more brick...
And the openings in the sitting room are starting to take shape...
Sorry dog photos have been banned by the FCC!

Day 29

Today they started demo on the kitchen--I can honestly say it's never looked better...

Also the 3rd floor windows (naming rights go to my dad) are now all installed...it only took us 2 years to get them in.

We also saw a sample of the open cell pavers that will go in the back yard..they will have grass in the open squares.

Meanwhile, Lucy started her own construction project at the lake...she clearly misses being surrounded by rubble.

Day 28

We have a a new window!!!  The first window was installed today---they are frosted on the lower half so nosey people (like me) don't look in the house...

Imagine all of the windows like the black one on the 3rd floor with matching black cornice & door...

Also, we saw the sample of the hardware for the sliding frosted glass doors that will be used for the bathrooms and guest bedrooms....looks good!

On the agenda for the rest of the week---the 2nd window on the 3rd floor, the brick cutouts on the 1st & 2nd floor and possibly some kitchen demo!
